Location is the most sensitive data in the app, so it gets its own document.
Why Voone needs your location

Outside these sections location is not requested. You may refuse the permission: the app keeps working, but track recording, local weather and the anchor watch will be unavailable.
Background location
The "always" permission is needed for two things: recording a track with the screen off, and the anchor watch. While background recording runs, the system shows that the app is using location. As soon as you stop recording or weigh anchor, background access ends.
Showing on the member map
Off by default. Nobody sees you until you turn the map on in your profile.
You choose the precision:
Approximate (the default when you turn it on) — coordinates are rounded to about 2 km. Others see an area, not a berth.
Exact — coordinates are shown as they are. Choose this only if you are looking for crew and ready to meet.
Hidden — you are not on the map.
Exact coordinates are stored on the server but are released in the form you chose: with "approximate", other members receive the already rounded value — the exact point cannot be recovered by narrowing the map bounds.
Your position updates when you open the community, and no more than once every few minutes. We do not build a movement history from the member map: only the latest point is kept.
You can turn the map off at any time — the point disappears for everyone immediately.
Passage tracks
A track is your private logbook. It stays on the device until you turn syncing on or share the passage.
When you share a passage (a card for social media or a link in chat), the track line goes with it. If you would rather not show start and finish points at your home or marina, switch the map off in the card settings before publishing.
Who receives coordinates
Open-Meteo — a point for the weather forecast and reverse geocoding. Without your name, email or account id.
Other members — only your map point, and only at the precision you chose.
Nobody else. There are no ad networks or location analytics in the app.
How to turn it off
In the app: profile → show on map (toggle), track recording settings.
In the system: iOS — Settings → Voone → Location; Android — Settings → Apps → Voone → Permissions → Location.
After you turn it off, previously recorded tracks stay in your logbook until you delete them.
Legal basis
Coordinates are personal data. They are processed on the basis of your consent (Article 6(1)(1) of Federal Law No. 152-FZ), which you give by switching the relevant toggle on and which you can withdraw at any time — by switching it off or by writing to hello@voone.ru. The general rules of processing are in the privacy policy.
