The main point

Voone is a training and support app. It is not a navigation system. Everything in it is for reference. Decisions on the water are made by the skipper, who carries the responsibility for them.

Not a replacement for ship's equipment

Voone does not replace or supplement:

The logbook track is drawn from the phone's GPS. Accuracy depends on the device, the case, the weather and reception; indoors and under high shores the error reaches tens of metres. The app contains no depths, hazards, buoys or restricted areas.

Rules and training

COLREGs texts are provided for study. Where our summaries, diagrams and explanations differ from the official text, the official text prevails.

Lessons, tests and drills are preparation, not a qualification. Voone issues no certificates, does not replace a sailing school or an exam, and does not entitle you to command a vessel.

Weather

Forecasts come from open sources (Open-Meteo and national service data). They can be late, wrong, and blind to local effects — sea breezes, wind acceleration in straits, swell. Before sailing, check the official forecast for your area and with the port authorities.

Assistant and recognition

Assistant answers and "What is this?" results come from a language model. The model can be wrong, invent a rule that does not exist, or misidentify an object. Check against the source — the rule texts are in the app. The assistant does not give legal advice.

Handover checklists

The handover checklist is a reminder, not an inspection report. It does not replace the charter company's handover form, an insurance survey or a technical inspection. Photos from the app are your personal archive; their legal weight is set by your contract with the charter company.

Anchor watch

The anchor watch alarm relies on the phone's GPS and needs battery, location access and permission to run in the background. The operating system may terminate a background task. Do not rely on it as your only means of watching the anchor.

Emergencies

In distress, call for help on VHF (Channel 16, MAYDAY) or the emergency number. The Distress screen prompts the call format, but the transmission goes through your radio — Voone calls nobody and sends no position to rescue services.

Liability

To the extent permitted by law, the operator of the service is not liable for damage, harm to a vessel, injury or any other consequence caused by use of the service or by reliance on its data. Liability towards those who obtained access with an activation code is limited in the amount and manner described in the public offer.

Decisions at sea are made by the skipper, and the skipper is responsible for them. Nothing in this document limits liability where the law does not permit it.
