1. What this is
Voone is a service for sailors: training (COLREGs, lessons, drills, tests), a logbook, boat handover checklists, a phrasebook, a community (member map, clubs, training events, messages) and an assistant built on a language model. It runs in the mobile app for iOS and Android, in the browser at app.voone.ru and on the site voone.ru.
This agreement is between you and the operator of the service. The operator's details are in section 14.
By installing and using Voone you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.
This is a translation for convenience. The Russian text at voone.ru/legal/terms prevails.
2. Documents that apply alongside this one
Service Rules — behaviour, prohibitions, moderation and blocking.
Privacy Policy and Consent to the Processing of Personal Data — what happens to your data.
Disclaimer — why the service is not a means of navigation.
Location Data and Account Deletion — two sensitive subjects covered separately.
Public Offer — the terms on which access to the sections opened by an activation code is granted; it applies to everyone who has obtained such access.
Where this document differs from the offer on the terms of that access, the offer prevails.
3. What is open and what opens with a code
COLREGs 1972, the phrasebook, tests and the lights trainer, the logbook with tracks and boats, weather, the member map, messages, reading clubs, training events and the assistant within its daily allowance are always available.
3D lessons, object recognition from a photo, the radio breakdown, joining and creating clubs, and the boat handover checklists open with an activation code. The code goes into More → Access and does not expire. There is no subscription: the code is applied once.
A separate code activates a pack of assistant requests: it adds requests on top of the daily allowance.
A code belongs to the person who received it. Codes may not be passed on, published or resold.
4. Account
Several sections work without an account: rules, phrases, lessons, checklists and the logbook stored on your device.
An account is needed for messages, clubs, training events, the member map and syncing between devices.
An account is created with an email address. In the browser you sign in with your email and a password; in the mobile app — and as a fallback on the web — with a one-time code from an email. The password is stored on the server only as an irreversible hash.
At registration you confirm, with separate tick boxes, that you have read this agreement and that you consent to the processing of your personal data. The boxes are not ticked in advance.
You are responsible for access to your mailbox, for keeping your password safe and for what you publish under your name. One account belongs to one person.
Age: use the service on your own from 16. If you are younger, use it together with an adult.
5. What is allowed and what is not
Allowed: learning, keeping a logbook, storing handover photos, talking to other members, sharing your passages.
Not allowed: impersonating another person or organisation; publishing other people's personal data; spam and advertising; insults and threats; unlawful content; trying to break or overload the service, circumvent its limits or harvest other members' data automatically.
The full list of prohibitions and the order of measures are in the Service Rules. The operator may hide material or restrict access to an account that breaks these rules.
6. Your data and content
The rights to what you create — tracks, notes, photos, messages — stay yours. You allow the operator to store and display it in the service so that it works: to show your message to the person you wrote to, and your track to you on another device.
The operator does not sell your material and does not use it in advertising.
7. The service's content
Lesson texts, diagrams, illustrations, the phrasebook, the source code and the Voone mark belong to the operator. You may use them inside the service; copying and republishing them is not allowed.
The COLREGs 1972 texts are an international document; our retellings, explanations and diagrams are our own work.
8. Training is not a licence
Voone is not an educational institution, issues no certificates and does not replace a sailing school. Finishing lessons and tests grants no right to command a vessel. See the Disclaimer.
9. The assistant
The assistant answers questions about the rules with a language model. It can be wrong and it is not professional advice. Check important answers against the source — the text of the rule is in the service.
The assistant is available to everyone with a soft daily limit on requests, so that the service stays available to everyone. A pack of requests is activated by a separate code.
10. Running the service
The operator aims for uninterrupted service but does not guarantee it. Sections may change, appear and disappear. Material changes are announced in the app.
Most of the app works without an internet connection. The network is needed for the assistant, weather, the community and syncing.
11. Liability
The service is provided "as is". To the extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for losses arising from use of the service, including lost profit, lost data and the consequences of decisions taken at sea.
Liability towards those who obtained access with an activation code is limited in the amount and manner described in the public offer.
These limits do not apply where the law does not permit limiting liability.
12. Ending use
You can delete your account at any time — see Account Deletion. The operator may close an account on a serious or repeated breach of the rules, with notice by email, except where the breach endangers other people.
13. Changes
The operator may change this document. A new version is published at voone.ru/legal/terms and in the app with its date. Material changes are announced before they take effect.
The law of the Russian Federation applies. Disputes are settled by negotiation and, failing that, by a court under the law of the Russian Federation.
