Where to start

You have installed the app and opened it for the first time: what happens next and what to do first.

First launch

The app opens with the greeting “Your first charter, no panic”, then asks what you need most: take over a charter boat, speak on the radio, get the rules and lights straight, or practise berthing. You can pick several goals — they decide what “Today” puts on top. Nothing is final: goals can be changed later in the profile.

Signing in is optional. Without an account you still get the rules, phrases, tests, the lights trainer, the logbook and your boats, all on the device. An account adds messages, clubs, trainings, the member map and syncing to a second device.

What to open on the first evening

The Today screen right after installing

1Set up the boat and the departure date — the line under your name on “Today”. Model, hull number, draft and call sign are later filled into the handover checklists and into the MAYDAY template.

2Set a home base or allow location — without a place there is no departure weather, no city overview and no marinas nearby.

3Take a short quiz in “Learning”: fifteen minutes and “Progress” shows your first percentages by topic.

4Download the offline packs over Wi-Fi if you are heading somewhere without coverage: “More → Offline downloads”.

What works without the internet

Lessons, the COLREGs text, the phrasebook, handover checklists, tests and the lights trainer live on the device. A connection is needed for the assistant, “What is this?”, weather, the community and syncing.
