Anchor watch

The phone watches whether the boat is dragging and wakes you with a sound louder than the system volume. It is a notification, not a safety device: a human keeps the watch.

Turning it on

Anchor watch: radar, radius and alarm

1“More → Anchor watch”.

2Tap Start the watch — the setup sheet opens.

3Enter how much chain is out and the depth under the keel. The alarm radius is calculated for you: chain × 1.5 + 10 m, and you can adjust it by hand.

4If the anchor was dropped well behind the boat, shift the point back along the course — the app then puts the anchor where it lies rather than under the keel.

5“Start the watch” — the radar shows the anchor, the radius circle and the boat’s trail.

What happens next

The three numbers under the radar are the distance to the anchor, the depth under the keel and the chain paid out. The alarm fires in two cases: the boat has left the radius, or GPS has been lost for more than a minute. The alarm is louder than the system volume, the screen stays on (the “Keep the screen on during a watch” setting), and a notification arrives on the phone — that category cannot be switched off.

“Got it, watching” silences the alarm but does not stop the watch: if the boat stays outside the radius, it will sound again.

What to keep in mind

GPS accuracy at anchor is a few metres, and a boat at anchor swings by itself anyway. Set the radius with a margin and check the position with your own eyes before sleeping. The app says so honestly, right on the screen.
