How to shoot
1The “What is this?” quick button on “Today”, or “More → What is this?”.
2Frame the object and press the button. Shoot closer and in the light: a winch in the shade is recognised badly.
3In a couple of seconds you get the name, the purpose and a short instruction.
If there is no camera, or access to it is closed, the shot can be picked as a file — the breakdown will be the same.
Accuracy and refining
Under the answer is the confidence: low, medium or high. Not right? Tap “Not it, refine” and pick the object from the catalogue by hand; the catalogue search looks by name.
If there is a lesson on the topic, an “Open the lesson” button appears.
What the app will not identify
Seacocks, gas and fuel equipment are deliberately left alone: a mistake there is more dangerous than not knowing. In such cases the app says so and sends you to the boat’s manual or to the base.
The breakdown needs a connection. The section opens with an activation code.
