Departure weather

The forecast for the point where you are: wind, gusts, wave, water and sky for a day ahead. The last answer is kept for offline use.

Where to look

The short summary lives on “Today” as one block: the sky with an icon and the temperature, a row of wind, gusts, wave and water, and the hourly forecast below. The full screen opens on tap, or from “More → Weather”.

Departure weather: now, by hour and for the day

What it shows

Now — wind with the direction it blows from, gusts, wave, air and water temperature.

By hour — 24 hours ahead.

For the day — the maximum wind, gusts and wave, plus a hint about when it blows hardest and when it is calmest.

The units (knots and metres, km/h and metres, miles and feet) are switched in “Settings → Units”.

Where the data comes from

The source is Open-Meteo: forecast and marine data. The app asks for it no more than once every thirty minutes and keeps the last answer in the cache — at sea the summary opens without a connection, marked with the time it was updated.

The place comes from the boat’s home base or from GPS. If there is no place, the screen says so and offers to set a base.
